Interesting footnote to her work as an assistant referee in the Wolves vs Liverpool game on Saturday. Richard Keys and Andy Gray (who is singularily the most arrogant celebrity I have ever seen) have been recorded saying she didnt understand offside.
I have seen Sian Massey ref a few times for Chasetown, and she has always been on of the better officials at our level. Generally, officials are awful at our level, so I think it's a bit unfair for her to get criticism down to the fact she is female.
I actually think females are as if not more capable of controlling a game, so this is highly unhelpful. Surely such comments (although meant to be private) are not going to encourage girls to take up referring?
When she left the flag down for the 1st Liverpool goal I thought she got it massively wrong, but it was a great decision.
