It finished 2-1. We were 2nd best for the 1st 30 mins, and scored against the run of play. Suprisingly, Rushall played some good passing football 1st period. They equalized, and deserved that at half time.

Second half we looked much better. Missed a couple of sitters, but the passing was much better and Rushall were well exposed at the back more than once. I think they are a side who when chasing a game could easily have a fair few knocked passed them.

Their number 11 looked excellent and scored a great goal. Sure we can offer him 4 grand a week or something and steal him away from Dales lane.

Just glad we won, and avoided extra time. Still alot of injuries but we won tonight against a strong Rushall side.

Wot he says!

Their No.9 looked a bit useful as well.

MOTM = Batch. No question. 'nuff said. Job done.

Agree 100% with popdog's post. Batch defo man of the match too.
Thorougly enjoyable game that just flew by. Yet again we have beaten another top side and the signs are looking more encouraging game after game. 100% effort yet again from everyone and as long as we keep getting that from the lads than no-one can complain.

A big well done to Chris Horton for the game, he came on early in a difficult position but he grew in confidence as game went on, I think he is only 17 / 18 and it was his first team debut I think , well done Chris !

Yes, well done Chris.

Apparently he's been teetering on the brink of first team action for a while. I can see why. I thought he had a good game. Certainly worked hard.

Best thing you can say about Horton is you didn't notice him as a rookie. Certainly came on and handled himself well, and looked solid.

Batch was clearly MOTM for me, followed by Birchy and then Horton. As said, their number 11 as well as Braithwaite looked good players, but Rushall certainly looked suspect at the back (as we did at times in the 1st half).

Can't argue with the 2nd half performance, and overall I would say we deserved to win 2-1. Special mention to J Branch, who from 5 yards out joined an elite club of those who have cleared the fence and put the ball on the bypass. Congrats...........I think.

From The Lichfield Blog:

Batchelor: Goal shows I'm not scared of the dark
Chasetown FC’s Richard Batchelor believes his goal has proved to manager Charlie Blakemore that he’s not scared of the dark!

The midfielder got the winner in the 2-1 Unibond League President’s Cup clash against old rivals Rushall Olympic FC.

And Batchelor hopes his second half strike might reduce the amount of dressing room banter aimed in his direction.
