Not doubting on the day you were the better side and deserved the three points. We never got our wide game going, although having two central midfielders suspended for three and four games doesn't help.
As for Reece, you have a far better player than he showed here last season. He is showing why Phil Starbuck thought he was worth bringing from Hednesford.
While only the ref can be blamed for the first penalty (
highlights on GTFC website) how was that good tackle a penalty?), Reece didn't help his cause all afternoon.
Every time the ball came to him, he backed into the defender and grabbed hold. When the defender pushed back, he went over appealing to the ref like some overpaid Premiers***e player (Drogba, he ain't). As a consequence, he got booked for diving in the second half insted of getting another penalty (isn't that cheating?). After a stray elbow or boot into our keeper, he was substituted by your management before he got himslef sent off, that was clear to see.
Our keeper should have got a yellow card (push to the chest is yellow, to the face is red) for his push to Reece's chest. However, given that the ref spoke to the linesman, then gave us a free kick infers that Reece fouled him. Both players were lucky to stay out of the book which would have seen him off the park.
Any player returning to a ground where he failed (8 games last season, no goals) and winning the most dubious penalty ever in the third minute is bound to wind up some home fans. When he than goes on to try and con the ref into giving him more, it will wind people up more. As Starbuck saw, Reece is a good striker. If he drops the stupid antics that led to us all turning off TV football and concentrates on the good parts of his game, he can be a far better striker than he is now.
