TOPIC: Alcohol outside clubhouse

Alcohol outside clubhouse 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I just want to clarify ... as much as we may not like it ... the "no alcohol policy" outside the clubhouse is an FA ruling NOT a Chasetown or Unibond League ruling.

There are hefty fines for a breach of this rule so please adhere to it for the sake of the club you love!

Maybe consider coming to the ground earlier - watch the lunchtime match if there is one - and have a drink or two before kick off.

Thanks

...So we couldn't have a drink outside this season even if we weren't in this glue-pot wot-not?

It's 100% not a UniBond League rule and is only an FA rule for FA competition matches (Cup and Trophy).

If your licence covers the whole of the ground (as it does at Shepshed) rather than just the confines of the clubhouse, then you are allowed to consume alcohol anywhere within its perimeter - as long as it's served in plastic 'glasses'. Bottles and glass would not be permitted.

This is exactly how it used to be!
Hands up who want's to be first with a conspiracy theory?

To be honest, I'm not really that bothered. Infact, it will probably make my liver very happy.

Exactly what I was told on Tuesday. So unless the FA have changed the rule this year, this is a load of bu**5h1t.

In plastic glasses, surely beer is safer than hot drinks (if spilt). All it does it make 1/2 time a nightmare for the bar staff, and make ppl down their drinks in a shorter time than they normally would. Or, they leave at half time 5 mins early and miss some of the game.

I know the club have been told this is the rule, I just assumed it was a Unibond rule as we havent come across it before (apart from FA cup/trophy games).

So where has the directive come from?

Perhaps the FA should provide clubs with the relevent info before making wide sweeping legistlation like that. I wonder too how some will cover the loss in takings - will the FA be reimbursing them do you reckon?

Makes very little sense to me whatsoever.

Hi, sorry mate but you're missing the point. This isn't a directive from the F.A. (or from the UniBond).

No worries, thanks for clearing it up.

But if it's not from the FA or from the UniBond, where is it from and what's all the fuss about?

I wrote a message with lots of sources but the forum logged me out.

Anyway, the law prohibits the drinking of alcohol within view of the pitch (including at half time, and through doors/windows) during 'designated' matches. These are matches where at least one of the teams play in the Conference North/South and above or the Welsh Premier League (and internationals). So unless it's a NPL/FA issue we're within the law having a pitchside pint during league matches and certain cup matches/friendlies, and on the otherside legally the club needs to keep the curtains and main door closed during certain matches.
