Belper Town - Unibond President's Cup 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Several cup games have been postponed tonight due to the rain but not this one!

Belper confirmed the game would be on after a midday pitch inspection as the Scholars look to keep their (fortuitous ) winning streak going with another tough fixture.

Might be time for Charlie to blood a few fringe players into the first eleven, but it'll be intersting to see what happens regardless.

Enjoy the game and I'll try to keep the updates coming.

Very controversial red card for Ross Miller, Paul doesn't think it was even a foul.

Chasetown down to 10 men, still 0-0

GOAL Belper Town 1 - 0 Chasetown

GOAL Belper Town 2 - 0 Chasetown

Two goals in a minute and despite Saturday's heroics this is probably curtains for the President's Cup this time around. Still plenty of time, but down to 10 men and with backs against the wall it'll be a very tough ask.

Both goals scored by Oliver

Not sure mate, but I know he's been on the bench a few times.

Observations on the match...

Ross's sending off. Ref told Charlie and Ross two different things. One was told Ross pulled the shirt, the other was told Ross cuaght the lad with his foot. Either way, IMHO (albeit from the opposite side of the pitch), the striker was going away from goal, Ryan saved the ball as he tried to advance around him anyway. Various viewpoints from around the ground, some of our supporters said they would have sent off Ross, others said it merited a yellow...

Catastrophic defending for the 51st minute goal. Enough said for the fact it was 2-0 after 52 minutes.

Never looked likely to get back in the game, though there was a spirit from som eplayers to push forward.

Chances were few, Egan had a good one second half, and normally I would have expected him to score, or lay a better pass into Birchy's path.

Ben Steane forced the keeper into a great save first half.

That said though, the majority the goalkeeper had to do was fend off insults from one of our supporters!!! Though, not with any great spirit!! It's only a game Belper Number 1, and you were winning it!!!

Okay, we lost 2-0, so you could argue that Belper would be happy... But, to me, they were just a long ball team. No wonder their pitch is so grassy, 95% of the balls were played off the ground. Can't see them being a threat if we're on our game next time around.

Young Scandrett showed some good touches in the short time he was on. Looked quite composed on the ball. Birchy was probably our best player tonight, for what my opinion is worth - though I will also confess to having one eye on Liverpool's Champions League demise!!
