Looks like we've got to make alternative plans for our New Years Day people ... quote from the Rushall website ...

With the likelihood of heavy snow still imminent later today, followed by sleet on Wednesday and Thursday, there are now strong doubts as to whether the Pics UniBond League First Division South fixture at home to neighbours Chasetown on New Years Day will now take place.

It is surely their biggest money spinner of the season, now that the snow has gone I am sure they will make every effort to get game on. It is now surely lying water on the grass that is the issue, lets hope for a dry windy few days and we can all have a afternoon out on Friday.

Water in the top soil is indeed the problem. It has been impossible to get any heavy devices on the pitch. However, the club is doing all it can to get the game on.

Match referee, Sarah Garratt, will be making an inspection at 9-30 a.m. on match-day. Personally, I would have thought that a final inspection could be left until later, in view of the close proximity of the two clubs.

9:30 am! What's going on here? Who's decision is it about the timing of the pitch inspection? If it's not the referee's we should be pushing for a sensible time, such as 12:00 pm.

I'm going to resist the temptation to rant further about this, but would be interested to know why the inspection is so very early.

I don't understand why they don't just install a soakaway by the lowest corner flag!

Its quite obvious Billy ... Rushall are scared! If they could have the pitch inspection today they would - the early it is the more likely it will be called off! LOL

And maybe they don't trust their players to not have one too many fizzy pops tonight! Haha

Bring on The Pics ... The Scholars will teach you a thing or two (pun intented )

In fairness to them, if the pitch is waterlogged at 9.30 it ain't going to dry out by 12 I don't think. iN

according to the weather forcast tonight its going to be frosty and v cold so if they do have an inspection at 9.30 it will be postponed straight away apparently its going to be -5 or less and we know that it wont thaw that quick

Just to throw one in and with my logical head on ...

After such a weather forecast we had was it not possible to lay a plastic sheet over the pitch to capture the snow and the eventual water from the thaw??

I don't know much about grounds keeping but it just seems strange after such a strong weather warning all action at football grounds happens after the event not before!!

A frozen pitch is different I understand as unless you've got undersoil heating there isn't much to be done but waterlogged pitch resulting from a snowfall (which was forecasted days before!!).

Maybe someone in the know can put me right because as I say I know nothing about grounds keeping!!
