I haven't forgotten the stats... 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Looking through piles of old programmes at the moment and trying to piece together more bits of Chasetown's history...

A few snippets I've discovered today...

1990-1991 season... An early "big" crowd at The Scholars, of 230 for the League Cup semi-final 0-0 draw with Gresley Rovers. We won the second leg 2-1 in front of 443. this is the game I would've described as one of Chasetown's greatest victories - pre all the FA Cup stuff post-2005 lol

1991 League Cup Final - after that victory over Gresley, we won the Final 1-0 versus Oldbury United, and one of the assistant linesman, according to the programme was Mr P Dowd from Stoke-on-Trent... Wonder what happened to him?

1991-1992 season... Even bigger crowd at "The Scholars".

According to the VS Rugby programme for our FA Cup replay, the crowd for our 0-0 draw on 12/10/91 was 492. I am assuming 200+ of those came from Rugby

An update on the Cox v Hyden top appearances...

494 for Simon Hyden at last check - and not discovered anything yet to increase his total.

But, I did have 443 for Andy Cox...

A Newcastle Town programme from Jan 11th, 1994 states Andy Cox is "leading appearances for the club" on 427.

If that was accurate at the time of programme, it would move Andy onto 486 appearances (with still some gaps to fill in)

If, as is more likely, it was the figure at the end of the previous season, it would mean, Andy Cox has played at least 523 for "The Scholars"

(the same programme has Tony Dixon on 142 goals, which would tie in ore closely with the end of the 1992-93 season)

... in short, that means, I still don't know

Well, it won't be done today, but, armed with my pen, print-outs and a lot of patience, I am hoping to camp myself in Lichfield Library with the Burntwood Mercury microfiche and see what I can unearth for my "gaps" seasons. I have a week off work coming up soon

Alternatively, I'll raid Loz's house and rifle his programme collection
