Full Time

Chasetown 1 - 0 Leek Town

Sorry there's not been any updates tonight, but what a result for the Scholars and Dean Perrow on his first game back for more than seven months!
Deano's goal nine minutes from time secured the three points and the third win on the spin with what I'm sure was another great team performance.

Great win for the lads. Some really good performances and progress made over the last few games.

And what a bonus to have Deano back and scoring again

Super substitution by Charlie, gave the lads a lift as the Mercurial Dean Perrow came on . I said that as soon as he came on that he would change the game and right on cue with a Messi special.

Good Luck Saturday and see you next Tuesday against Mickleover.

We have 2 games in hand on Mickleover, and are yet to play them. If all went to plan we would be 4 points behind them. If they slip up in another game soon it could make the last day of the season very very interesting.

Well done Charlie on setting the team up well and encouraging the correct stuff. I thought the sub of Deano was spot on time wise, and again I could hear ALL the team talking last night. Infact it's easier to say who was quiet as opposed to who was vocal. If we play as a unit and stick together we will win more than we lose.

Gave alot of ball to feet to Ramone last night as we have needed too, just a shame he couldn't use it a bit better. Thought the CB pairing of Horton/Slater looked alot more solid. Saunders was again excellent in midfield........let's not take the foot off the gas vs Spalding.

Fantastic that there is still the an outside chance of the title ... means my pre-season bet for the title isn't completely dead and buried yet!!

Also had a bet at 9/1 which i had written off a while back but you never know! Still think Mickleover will get the 2 wins they need against Quorn and Stamford though. Read that they are bringing alot with them next Tuesday as they will win the league that night if they beat us.

Very good even game last night which was always going to be decided by a mistake or a bit of sheer brilliance. Big thanks to their defender for a woeful backpass!! Cool finish from Deano and great to see him back.
Defence has certainly looked alot more solid the last 3 games and the whole team looks better balanced all round. Front 2 again looked a handful along with Bones who was only let down by his final ball which failed to find a blue shirt on too many occasions. Egan and Saunders are looking immense in midfield at the moment too. The ball is being kept on the ground too unlike earlier in the season when far too often the midfield was being bypassed with long hoofs upfield. My man of the match though would go to John Branch. Great defending and good link up play when going forward and several great crosses into the box. Surely has to be player of the season.

If only we hadnt thrown away so many stupid points this season at home against struggling sides we would have won this league. As one of the players told me last night "if we dont gain promotion then this season will have been totally thrown away". Let's just hope it's 3rd time lucky via the play off route.
