FC Halifax Town 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Did we win?
Last I saw we were 2-1 up.
Birch and Jevons.
Would be a real coup against such a huge club and get the Scholars back on track.

we were shocking first half lots wrong with our play but a smashing second half improved in all departments and two good goals great cross by jack farmer for the first two good finishes by two subs birch and jevons so good choice of subs great to get three points on board all the regular faithful there just wished we could get a few more through the gate even if we could get another 50 or so regulars from those that came to the play off final

Not a lot of comment on here, so I thought I would find out what the Halifax fans thought of the game. They have a very lively forum with plenty of opinion.

Most Halifax fans read it as I think we do. A game that they had the better of first half, thought they had done enough and didn't respond when we came out fighting second half.

There's the usual smattering of bitterness. "Chasevillage", "sh**house", "unfit", "expect Chase to get trounced on Monday", "bottom five finishers", etc. We've heard it all before (remember Grantham!), but the simple truth is we wanted it more and that counts for a lot. In this case it "counts for" three points

What a game of two halfs, first half it was terrible most of players was too scared of going for it and yeah nothing much happend except there goal and all over us. Second half was a turn around, we played with lots of tempo and actually got stuck in. Birch and Ryan played well when they came on.

But i have been on the halifax forums and seen there comments and i am disgusted what they have been saying about Chasetown. Giving us rubbish ratings, i think only one comment was nice about us.

I would also like to add that when we swapped ends for the 2nd half i noticed where the halifax town fans were standing there were quite a bit of rubbish on the floor, dont they know how to use bins ^^

Game of two halves. Was very impressed with Halifax 1st half and we were lucky it was only 1 at the break. Totally different story 2nd half where we took the game to them from the off. In my opinion best game in a Chase shirt for Grant Ryan and i reckon him and Birchy have to start on Monday.
Awesome cross from Jack Farmer for the 1st goal whch was clinically finished by Birchy.
Have to agree with Johnny Scholar with regard to the attendance. Take off the Halifax fans and there were only the usual 360 Chase fans there. Doesnt appear we have held on to any of the extra 900 we had at the play off final. Disappointing.

I agree, thats the only thing holding this club back is the fan attendance. We clearly have got alot more fans as they come to 'special' games, but when its just a 'normal' game they dont bother coming, there msut be a reason why

I think the fact that it's still the holiday season has a lot to do with the attendance figure. Still, it was a disappointing turnout. Halifax clearly think we viewed this as a "big game". Our attendance figures suggest that Chasetown fans did not!

We ought to average 500+ for home games to show real progress in attracting support in this higher league. Anything less than 430 and we will be going backwards!

The fans who turned out for the Glapwell were mostly the same who turned out for Cardiff, Vale and Oldham. We didn't hold onto them then, and we won't hold onto them regularly just because we're playing Marine instead of Market Drayton. We did however keep hold of 200+ regular matchgoers (post Oldham), and it's still a respectable number at this level.
