An awesome display coming so soon after the Grimsby game. I was worried that we may not turn up last night with the players minds being on the Trophy. However those fears were dispelled from the start of last nights game with a totally dominant attacking display in the 1st half in which Bones was truly awesome. He ran the show and totally ran rings around the Matlock defence who just couldnt handle his trickery. His superb goal capped off what must surely have been his finest games in a Chase shirt.
The 2nd half highlighted the battling qualities this side has. Under pressure for long periods the hard but fair tackling from Egan, Jevo and Davies was awe inspiring and never really let Matlock get into any rhythm. On top of this another superb defensive display limited the visitors to only a few clear cut chances.
I left the game feeling as pleased as i have been with any performance all season with the exception of the replay at Kettering which i doubt will be beaten for my game of the season.
