Long time since Chasetown lined up without either John or Mark in the starting line up...
26 games ago... March 5th 2009 v Dudley in the Walsall Senior Cup
Previous time was March 1st 2008 at home to Chesham in the League

In my opinion the Branches should always be picked as you know they are going to give 100% always. Even when they have a poor game you can never fault their effort.

I agree (above)
Why is ben steane and the branch's on the bench, when they are 3 of our best players?
Wouldnt it of been simpler to put craig holland in midfield with ben steane, and the branch's back where they belong. At least we get more effort from them 4, than most other players.

The Branches and Steane were left out to save them for the Rushall game.

If this is true, I think it was a serious mistake. I thought we weren't going to take ANY games lightly. There's a certain arrogance in assuming Monday's game is on, until you've won Saturday's. What we have now is a complete dog's dinner. A lucrative Bank Holiday home tie thrown away and Chase turning out for a cup replay where Wulfs will be really up for it. Bet the three "B's" play tomorrow.

Agree totally with the above post. How arrogant to rest players for a game on Monday when there was no guarantee we would win on Saturday. Yet again opposition were not given the respet they should have been given. We have been told by 2 players in interviews pre season that we wouldnt be taking any game lightly and yet only 5 games in to the season the attitude has been appalling in 2 of them.

Totally agree with the above posts, this is August for crying out loud! Players are fresh and have just come back from pre-season, they should be raring to go and be as fit as is possible.
We've had so much enjoyment from the cup over the last few years, and so many unforgettable experiences, along with forming relationships with teams such as Cardiff who are only too happy to support us. Therefore us not paying due respect to the competition of which we helped to bring the magic back, is in my opinion almost criminal.
Squad rotation fine, gives everyone a fair shot. Dropping players in order to rest them for 'a bigger game' which may not come about is as people of said, completely arrogant. We've deserved what we've got in the end, turned up with some players just expecting to walk over a lower league side from the concensus I've heard (as teams have done with us, let's be fair) - yet we've fallen into the same trap.
Strongest squad possible tomorrow night please Charlie, and a top class performance from the Scholars.

I think the players know they are better than the performances they have put in so far. They shouldn't need Charlie or us to tell them (or us, for that matter). A convincing performance tonight is very important. A convincing performance on Saturday is essential!

Fair point, although I don't think there's anything wrong with us voicing our opinions. Let's face it if the players have an excellent game then we'll sing their praises (sorry cliche) and be more than happy to say how great a performance it was. On the other hand if we have a rubbish game, then the same thing applies. That's the job of football fans - and I don't object to people criticizing us if they've got a point to make.
But yep, I'm sure the players know when they've not performed as they should and will want to put it right as much as we want to see them do so. An awesome vintage Chasetown performance tonight would be the best way to reply to all these comments, and despite what some of us have said, of course we wish the lads the best and'll be cheering them on from ground or at home thanks to the updates - of which I'm happy to volunteer for.
