Thoroughly deserved win. Lincoln never threatened.

Had Mark Branch scored inside first 2 minutes, we could probably have won 4 or 5. Home keeper made some great saves which made you start to think we'd never breakthrough.

Until, the second coming. Scored on his debut originally in 2002 and netted the winner today with his 27th Chasetown goal (Incidentally, to whoever did the pen pics this is Egan's 6th season with 5 previous ones - not 2 )

Man of the match a toughy. One of Steane, Miller or Batch for me.

4th consecutive year we've won on the opening day of the season. Used to be a jinx for us for a long time.

Have to agree ... thoroughly deserved but was worried the goal would never come! Until Egan finished an impressive team move.

Also agree with your 3 man of the match nominations ... but if I have to pick one I'm going for Ben STEANE (now how do you pronounce this again? )

Any news on Deano and Ross? Hope they're both okay!

Just for the record...

Dave Egan's last competitive game for Chasetown was October 28th, 2006 - not quite 3 years ago but not far off.

His last league goal before his "retirement" from football was September 9th, 2006 at home to Berkhamstead - though he did score 2 cup goals after that.

Personally thought Ross edged man of the match but wouldnt say anyone had a bad game. But what a tragedy after a superb pre season and a great game yesterday that he had to pick up an injury like that which could keep him out of the team. His defending and especially his crossing of the balls into the box was awesome. he will be missed for however long he is out.
A good all round performance but thought the goal was never going to come.

Would just like to say what a great atmosphere was created by Lamby and all his mates. Really hope they will be there at every other game this season. They helped to make it a special day all round.

I remember including Ross in my predicted starting side of last season, but for various reasons his chances were limited. I think fullback is his best position, and lets hope his injury is a short term thing.
