Charlie urged to keep the faith with his players 2 Years, 8 Months ago
From The Lichfield Blog

Harry Harris has urged manager Charlie Blakemore to keep faith with the players involved Chasetown FC’s FA Cup exit - even if it means he is left out of the team as a result.

Harris has been frustrated by his lack of starting opportunities at the Scholars Ground so far this season and things got even worse for him when he missed the deciding spot-kick in their penalties defeat to AFC Wulfrunians in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.

But despite two below-par showings in the competition leading to suggestions Blakemore could ring the changes for Saturday’s trip to Spalding United, Harris has urged the manager to give the players a chance to redeem themselves.

I can see Harry's point, and I don't think I'm alone in thinking he should perhaps have seen a bit more action this season. Regardless, some of us will say the players had their chance on Tuesday night, ok point taken, but we're not in a position to totally revamp the squad, and from my perspective you have to stick with players through thick and thin. If the effort isn't there I'm all for seeing certain players take their turn bench warming, but sometimes the luck isn't with you.

Three or four changes a max I think, it's time whoever is out their on the pitch shows just how much they want to be there by putting in a performance. If you play your heart out for 90 mins, no one can ask any more. The FA Cup was a massive disappointment, but with the league only just underway, we've got plenty of time to show how Chasetown can perform. Time to get back on track me thinks.

I think you have to credit Harry as well - it would be easy to say change the team just so he could get in the team, but he's acknowledged that the baby out with the bathwater approach won't work.

In other news, it's good to see that wonderful site The Lichfield Blog top of the feeds at the moment! ;o)

There's a piece running tomorrow which has a link to the Chasetown FC Twitter match feed to so hopefully more people might tune in for that.
