Change sooner than later???!!! 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I have sat back and read a lot over the past 24 hours.

Although I agree with many of the points that have been made, In my opinion I believe we should just go back to playing our strongest eleven.

I wasn't able to travel to the game yesterday due to work commitments but found it hard to believe the side that started did not include; Ryan Price, Batch, Steany and Ross Miller. From reading the match report three of them where on the benchand I am told appearing for the reserves was Ryan. Why??????

Surely, if we are to compete or at least be in contention for promotion this year these four players need to be in the starting line up. I haven't been able to catch as many games as I would of liked since the seasons outset, but felt in the final few preseason games when the team included these players we looked strong and very offensive. Nantwich, leamington, ilkeston?????!!!!

Now as it seems these players are all fit surely they should be back in the starting line up???!!! I feel it would be fair to say that although we may have not have been losing over the past few weeks we haven't played the greatest football either. So why weren't wholesale changes made, especially batch who did well when he came on last week.

Hopefully all these players will get a run out come mid-week and we can get back to winning ways. If not I worry about the direction the season is going in.

Change sooner than later, what are your thoughts?

Unless we see a major overall, including players doing as they are told by Charlie, and by picking our best side, and playing to our stengths, we wont win the half time raffle. I do not think we stand a chance of winning this league with the football we are currently playing. I think I have personally seen 3 out of the 5 worst Chase performances ever this season.

Missed saturdays game, sounded like not alot was missed. Always a concern when strong players are left on the bench, however this is something that I saw alot last year. Bad decisions? Not sure but I do think to many times poor performances are let go, sloppy play let go week after week. I am always happy with Ross, Batch and Pricy on the pitch. We are always happy to play the ball in the Gods, when our strenghths, we are told, is on the green stuff!!!!
It is like no one thimks out there.

We need strong leadership and a we need Charlie to be brave and honest with the team and make the hard decisions, will he do whats needed? Only time will tell, however I fear I already now the answer.

My honest belief is that Charlie took Mickelover too lightly with his team selection, and 1st half we were crucified. Mickelover were fast on the break and fast down the wings (like AFC) and we were murdered 1st half. Dont let the scoreline fool you, we were better 2nd half than 1st, and that was down to a sharp half time talk, and subs/tactical changes.

However, it left Steany/Batch chasing a game, and credit to Mickelover they survived. What with an crap ref we didn't have much going for us on Saturday.

yes as i agree with all of you...but taylor had 2 clean sheets b4 mickleover, pricey was injured, steane and batch r just coming back from injury aswell, also ross miller! as much as i thought all 3 on the bench shud have played, the decision to sit them there was correct, after all they have all have short term injuries that have kept them out!!! you cannot argue with this, its just common sense! although they could have come onto the pitch sooner!

Point taken with injury position, however the fact that changes come slow always frustrates me as a fan. I don't expect the team to win every game, but effort, this I hope to see in bucket loads. I don't want to see 10 headless chickens, but some passion and desire to enforce our game, not get out thought and out played home and away.

Batch has been injured, but on his return 2 weeks ago seemed fairly fired up and with an instant change to shape and speed of the game. Keeping him on the bench only confused me more.

I suppose what i'm tring to say is more team spirit, quiker braver descisons and bucket loads of belief and passion.

Steane and Batch did come on at half time on Saturday - are you suggesting Charlie should've brought them on in the first half?

Perhaps that would've been too early?

I don't think there was much wrong with Charlie's management on Saturday. He played the best team he thought he had available to start with, in view of the returnees from injury, changed it at half-time, and that didn't really work either. Our second half performance on Saturday wasn't a lot better than the first. We still only had one shot on target in the second half.

But, be assured that Charlie has been working round the clock with his players since Saturday's disappointment. CB would've taken Saturday's defeat harder than any of us ever would. He breathes and sleeps Chasetown FC.

CB would've taken on board things his players have said to him since Saturday - from my expereinces of him, he's a good listener as well as a good talker - and thankfully we only have to wait a short while for the opportunity to put things right.

I largely agree. The team he put out SHOULD of been competitive with Mickelover in the 1st half but they looked a league or 2 below. It was a case of Charlie telling them to do things and them not doing it, or not playing well. I guess it was a game when most of the team played poorly. We looked much better 2nd half (still below where we should be) but CB made the positive changes to get a result.

I don't know, lets play devil's advocate and say the indifferent form could be a blessing in disguise. Maybe we have come into the league expecting to do as well as last yr, and others teams raise there game. Maybe showing some indifference will polarize the team, and make opposition think "Chasetown aren't that good".

Maybe I am just in a positive mood........it won't last

Just to, hopefully, put some closure on this topic... (and I'm to blame as much as the next man for feeling downhearted on Saturday)

Don't forget where Chasetown have come from, and that we've re-set the bar of what our club sees as success...

In the mid 1980's, the club were teetering with relegation in the West Mids Prem (then Step 8 as we are now), until Merv Rowe came along, and a squad which included Charlie as a player, took us to the brink of promotion on two occasions (held back by the ground)

In the mid-1990's after Merv Rowe left, Chasetown would've been relegated if the teams inthe leagues below would've got their grounds ready for promotion...

At the turn of the millennium we finished 10th, 10th, 11th, 10th, 18th in 2002.

Charlie got us to 9th, 6th, 2nd, promoted back into Step 8 and FA Cup First Round, 3rd, 7th and FA Cup Third Round, and 4th...

It's great we have high expectations, but we've still only lost twice this season

popdog i am glad u think there have been 3 of the worst chasetown performances ever, may be under charlie yes but not ever trust me. i just think we need to get back our famous team spirit as this seems to be lacking this year compared to the togetherness the lads always seemed to have. keep things simple get ball down and work hard is that to much to ask
